Thursday, January 23rd, 7pm: Science on Tap Hits the Road: Fermentation Edition. We’ve partnered up with UMaine WiSTEMM to take Science on Tap on the road. For this Thursday night event with Orchard Girls Cidery, we’re taking a look at fermentation and cider! The University of Maine‘s Jennifer Perry will give us an overview of fermentation, and Orchard Girls will cover the cider-specific parts.

The MSF has teamed up with Maine Discovery Museum and students in the American Fisheries Society Student Subunit at the University of Maine for a fish exploration event for kids of all ages! This is your chance to drop by an learn more about fish MSF-style. Activities include:
– Fish Printing – Aquatic Invertebrates – Tag a fish! – Fish eaters?

Friday, January 31st, 7pm: Ecological Responses to Climate Change: Lessons from the Past The MSF has teamed up the University of Maine’s Jacquelyn Gill to offer this talk by Jack Williams of the University of Wisconsin. Jack will be in Maine (hosted by Jacquelyn) and we’re fortunate to be able to team up for this public talk. Jack is the former director of the University of Wisconsin’s Center for Climate Research and an Aldo Leopold Leadership Fellow; his research focuses on vegetation change and its drivers, with an emphasis on the environmental changes of the last 20,000 years.
