Field Trip Day
March 17, 2022
10 AM -1 PM

The Maine Science Festival hosts a Field Trip Day for approximately 600 7th & 8th graders from all over the state (free of charge to the schools). With this mini-MSF, we want to show those students all the ways science and engineering are used in Maine, as presented by representatives from universities, colleges, community colleges, nonprofits, and industry.

The students are rotated throughout the Cross Insurance Center, with all taking part in Cool Science (hands-on activities), and different session tracks (workshops and topical sessions).

Presenters of workshops and topical sessions: you will need to present your session 2-3 times, to a limited number of students. These sessions should be as interactive as possible and include engagement with the students. (30 minutes)

Hands-on activities: you'll see each of the students attending, but in three sessions run back-to-back.

Presenters should be able to participate and have expertise or knowledge to be part of the event. For example, if you are proposing a session about the history of technology, you need to be able to explain exactly what that is - or have a scientist as part of your workshop team who can explain it.

Proposals that are accepted for the Festival will have support in arranging additional participants, moderators, etc. as needed.
