Mark is Technology and Business Development Manager at Fiber Materials / Spirit Aerosystems located in Biddeford Maine. In this role, he works closely with major aerospace companies and government agencies to define and develop next generations designs and associated material requirements for hypersonic and deep space flight vehicles. Mark served as program manager and technical lead in the design, development and production of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) and Mars 2020 forebody heatshield, the OSIRIS REx sample return capsule thermal protection system (TPS) and the SLS ORION Launch Abort System propulsion system. His technical areas of expertise are composite ablators for atmospheric entry and ultra-high temperature ceramic matrix composites.
Prior to joining FMI in 2004, Mark was Product Development Manager for National Semiconductor’s Enhanced Solutions Division. In this position he was responsible for technology research, product development, test and qualification, and worldwide customer technical support. Mark previously held engineering and management positions with Fairchild Camera & Instrument, GTE and General Motors.
Mark holds a B.S. in Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and a M.B.A. in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix.
