Ann Wells

Ann received a B.S. in Microbiology, PhD in Genome Science and Technology, and a Statistics Masters from the University of Tennesssee-Knoxville. She joined The Jackson Laboratory in 2018 as a postdoctoral associate in Greg Carter’s Lab.

Ann’s doctoral dissertation investigated how diet, gender, and genetics interacted to affect metabolism in different organs leading to changes in weight, energy expenditure, muscle and fat mass, among others. As a postdoc, she investigates how genetics and environmental factors interact to make an individual susceptible or resilient to diseases that are difficult to diagnose, such as Alzheimer’s and autoimmune diseases, in order to prevent them. To perform this research, Ann uses current computational methods and develops new statistical methods.
